CONGRATULATIONS to all participants of the ABS Student Congress 2026.
ST. SCHO | February 16, 2026 — The Association of Benedictine Schools (ABS) Student Congress 2026 marked its 50th celebration on a bright Monday at St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. Held every two years, this cherished gathering brought together student leaders from nine Benedictine schools:
1. St. Agnes Academy Legazpi
2. St. Scholastica’s Academy Pampanga
3. Holy Family Academy Angeles
4. St. Scholastica’s Academy Tabunok
5. St. Scholastica’s Academy Bacolod
6. Holy Family High School Bacolod
7. St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina
8. St. Scholastica’s College Westgrove
9. St. Scholastica’s College Tacloban
The day began with a Holy Mass at Sr. Kuniberta Hall, presided by Rev. Fr. Jude Genovia, setting a sacred tone for the congress. Following the Mass was the ABS Parade, where each school proudly marched its flag as the emcees introduced the delegates.
Afterward, Sr. Rosario Obiniana, OSB—ABS Executive Director—reminded everyone that Benedictine education is for justice, rooted in St. Benedict’s call to “listen with the ear of your heart.” Anchored on the theme “Sursum Corda: 50 Years of Lifting Hearts through Education for Justice,” she emphasized forming leaders who will build a generation where justice fosters peace.
Then, Mo. Lumen Gloria Dungca, OSB, Prioress of the Manila Priory, highlighted in her speech three Benedictine values: stability, hospitality, and community.
A meaningful talk by Sr. Mary John Mananzan, OSB on education for justice and social transformation followed. She spoke of social injustices and challenged students to respond with faith in God.
The day concluded with a vibrant Solidarity Night, where students showcased their talents through song and dance. Among the performances was a heartfelt rendition of “O Bayan Ko” by Ryan Cayabyab, performed by the thirty student leaders from St. Scholastica’s Academy, Pampanga.
Though the congress lasted only for a day, it left a lasting imprint on everyone’s heart. As delegates waved their goodbyes, it was clear that the Benedictine community thrives on shared faith and fellowship—enduring, grounded, and grace-filled.
